[At home Dolorosa had fixed herself something to eat but made a bit too much. Eating was always more enjoyable with other people so she goes to knock on Sollux's door]

It seems I still prepare food for four rather than just enough to satisfy my own hunger, would you like to join me?

Sollux? I'm going to enter. [She enters his room and- he's not there. She could have sworn he was home but it looks like she was wrong. His cane isn't here so he must have gone out. The thought brings a frown to her face, if he was going to go out she would have liked someone to go out with him, even if he can get around blind she still worries. Food forgotten, she decides to go look for him]

[Well she picks out a direction and walks down the street] Sollux?

[He stops at the sound of her voice.]

Dolorosa?

Sollux! [She follows the sound of his voice until she has found him] I am sure you are very capable young troll but you have just recently been blinded so could you please tell me or leave a note when you are going to leave the hive so I am aware of where you going and where you would be if I needed to locate you? [If you ever doubted she was a mother...]

[He sighs.]

Yeah, sorry.

[He wanted to say something snappy but he held off this time, because he lives with Dolorosa and he doesn't want to make her mad with him.]

[she lets out something akin to a sigh] Forgive me, I did not mean to scold you. [But she's lost enough children and she doesn't trust this town] Is something troubling you?

It's Karkat. He doesn't trust anyone from your generation so he told us to not talk to you guys anymore which pissed me off because I actually enjoy talking to you and he thinks that just because he's the leader means that he can tell us who we can and can't talk to.

[She takes a moment to let the words sink in, at first she is surprised but her expression is one of understanding] I believe that would be my fault. I said things he did not want to hear. [Things she promised not to talk about with others] I will not be offended if you choose to follow the instructions your leader has issued.

Of course I'm not going to follow them! Just because he doesn't trust you or whatever doesn't mean that I don't trust you.

[She smiles at him even if he cannot see it] I appreciate your trust in me. [a beat] Do you know of a way I could get him to trust me?

It's not going to be easy, he has his guard up all the time and a lot of the time he won't listen to you if he thinks that his opinion is more important.

I believe his opinion is important, but I also believe he took my words as an imposition more than a lesson in history. I wish to clarify my words and perhaps form a bond with him. I have enjoyed meeting all of the other trolls here and I wish we could all get along, or at least be civil.

I guess if you apologized or something, he might loosen up. What did you even tell him, anyway?

Forgive me, I promised him I would not share the information with anyone else. I try and keep my promises.

[He sighs]

I'll just assume it was something completely horrifying and terrible.

...so, why did you come out and look for me? Did you need something?

Oh! I had made something to eat, but I have grown accustomed to preparing for four so I made too much. I wanted to know if you wanted some.
